Connective Wellness
Integrative medicine is the combination and coordination of complementary and alternative medicine with conventional care. It treats the entire person and defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being.
The Center will offer traditional Chinese medicine, massage therapy, nutritional counseling, chiropractic, behavioral counseling and more.
What is Connective Wellness?
It’s a new, expansive approach geared toward shifting the focus from “fixing what is wrong with you” to enabling you to experience the fullness of holistic well-being. Wellness is a state of mind informed by the physical, mental and spiritual elements of your unique individuality. Our Connective Wellness Program, to be introduced in 2012, is designed to address these different domains, collectively, to put you on a path that can improve your well-being. Whether you are a star athlete or someone living with a chronic condition, this approach can help you improve your well-being.
Connective Wellness and You
Whenever we’re sick we’re patients. But being well (and staying well) is just the opposite. That’s why whenever you interact with any of our medical or specialized practitioners you’re a client. You are the center of your own unique universe of friends, family and beliefs. And that’s where we will begin as we work with you to address concerns and shape your desired outcomes for healthy life goals with a fully customized and personal approach.
Connective Wellness: Medicine
Being co-located on the campus of one of America’s leading medical complexes we have unusual access to clinical scientists and medical doctors across a wide spectrum of specialties. So often, specific medical treatment is performed in isolation focusing on one key issue. We are always respectful of your medical needs and existing relationships. No matter what your personal health plan is, we see our role as an objective hub connecting, maintaining and organizing the pathways of communication between new and existing providers so that we always see the total picture — of you.
Connective Wellness: Mind, Body & Spirit
While there is much we can achieve in the “mechanics” of wellness, the picture is far from complete without the “art” of wellness. The mind is a powerful healing agent and we believe that the best results of well-being come from a good balance of both the mechanics and art. From meditation to massage our program will continue to evaluate, select, and offer the best combinations of traditional and alternative therapies with scientific eyes and healing hearts. And we’re developing a battery of assessment tools that can help both you and us get in touch with your state of well-being. It starts with a relaxed conversational interview, moves into a wellness assessment and ultimately sets a wellness score goal that encompasses all the holistic aspects of your well-being.
Connective Wellness: Technology
It’s a 24/7 world and we all live in it. Wellness is not on an 8 to 5 schedule, nor does it only take place in an exam or treatment room. As you’re out in the real world we think it’s important that you have easy connective pathways to our wellness information center. As we’ve built our new high-tech facility, we have provided for the ability to serve you better with tools you may already have, such as email and messaging, web-based information and education, and two-way video to smartphones and tablets. And our website will always be up-to-date with the latest trends in wellness and personal health technology.
Connective Wellness: Environment
Colorado Center for Health and Wellness is more than just a new building, it is a building designed to be friendly to the environment (Gold LEED certified) as well as connecting directly with the human senses in ways that prime the body to experience wellness. When you first visit the center you’ll be struck at the amount of natural light throughout the building. Colors were selected that link to different spiritual and physical centers of the human body based on ancient Eastern philosophy. Fitness motivation starts with having open stairs in the lobby that encourage bypassing the elevator. Windows strategically frame views of the mountains and the city. A rooftop garden and contemplation space is designed around principles of feng shui. And throughout the center, carefully selected artwork creates an environment for inspiration, relaxation, contemplation and even amusement. It’s all an extension of how we feel about the joy and vitality of aspirational well-being.
