The Anschutz Foundation
In 2008, The Anschutz Foundation donated $15 million toward the creation of the new Colorado Center for Health and Wellness at the University of Colorado. This extraordinary investment inspired the University and School of Medicine to match this gift and make additional institutional investments to secure the physical footing and faculty team responsible for building a world-class initiative. These investments resulted in the new Anschutz Health and Wellness Building.
Nu Sigma Nu Fraternity
Through a generous gift of $650,000 from a fund established by the historic Nu Sigma Nu medical fraternity, the Colorado Center for Health and Wellness was able to create an innovative green roof where healthy produce is grown onsite and members of the community can gather for relaxation and entertainment. It will provide a place for students, faculty and staff to congregate, relax, hold special events and form social connections across classes and disciplines. The Nu Sigma Nu medical fraternity was founded in 1881 at the University of Michigan. James J. Waring, M.D., the first full-time Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and later Chairman of the Department of Medicine, as well as founder of the Webb-Waring Lung Institute, established a Nu Sigma Nu chapter in Denver, in 1923, during his residency.
